Director / Head Coach
(C.P.T.; YFS1, YFS2, YSAS, and Youth Nutrition Specialist)
Dale’s vision is to be a household name in indianapolis when it comes to training youngsters. With more than 20 years of youth coaching experience, Dale understands and relates to today’s young athletes and what makes them tick. Most importantly, realizing that no two athletes are the same he finds the unique qualities in each to bring out the best in their athletic abilities.
Coach Speckman currently holds several youth fitness certifications, including International Youth Conditioning Association’s Youth Fitness Specialist Level 2 certification. This is a unique certification that few trainers possess that focuses on the intricacies of specialized youth training techniques with an emphasis on mobility, stability and the prevention of future sports related injuries by educating his students on the the proper angles of force and safe and effective multi- directional speed techniques. The most recent additions to Dale’s continuing education are the Youth Speed and Agility certification and the Youth Nutrition Specialist certification, both awarded by the IYCA.
Dale was offered collegiate scholarships in both baseball and football, and ultimately chose football at the University ofIndianapolis. He had the rare opportunity to play football in Europe where he spent several seasons and finally retired from football at the age of 30. Dale held Great Britain’s All -Time Sacks record for several years and ranked in the top 10 in total tackles. As you can see, Coach Speckman’s life has been one dedicated to sport. He understands that preparing for the upcoming season is an ongoing process not a quick fix. Coach Speckman’s number one goal and training philosophy is to prevent future sports related injuries by properly training and educating his young athletes, giving them skills and habits they will possess for the rest of their active lives.
Matt has had a passion for athletics his whole life. The youngest of 5 children, Matt had 4 older mentors who all played sports to model. Playing countless sports his whole life, he has had some of the best coaching in the world.
That great mentoring and coaching helped Matt:
- Win a silver medal in the world wrestling championships in South Africa,
- Win one national championship,
- Qualify as an all-american wrestler 9xs,
- Win 3 state football championships,
- Win the Phil N Eskew Mental Attitude award in all of IN,
- Win one state wrestling championship in undefeated fashion,
- 1st team all-state honors in rugby and in football.
Matt went on to earn a full wrestling scholarship to Michigan State University where he switched to football and earned a letter. Matt had always dreamed of playing football at Notre Dame, so he transferred and earned a monogram letter as a walk-on defensive tackle. Once football was over, there was only one thing left to do in college sports and that was win a title in the largest intramural boxing tournament called the Bengal Bouts. In 2009, Matt was invited to tryout for a team comprised of former Notre Dame players or “Legends,” which was coached by former ND coach and Hall of Famer Lou Holtz.
With such a privileged athletic childhood plus an entrepreneurial drive since he was 10, being able to give back and make others life better through Athletic Revolution is one of the most exciting times of Matt’s career.
